German Design Award 2023

There are many design awards. But there are few design prizes that are as internationally coveted as the German Design Award, making it all the more gratifying for Silhouette to have ranked among the very best in this competition.

Silhouette was recognized in the Excellent Product Design – Lifestyle and Fashion category for its “Purist” and “New York Sky” models and in the Excellent Communications Design – Web category for its Buy Local Initiative. These awards further acknowledge the premium eyewear producer’s reputation for cutting-edge design and quality.

The “New York Sky” collection is a tribute to the big city flair of its namesake. Its eye-catching, 23-karat, gold-plated metal frame follows the curved outline of the lenses, which are attached to the frame by a single join at the end piece and seem to be almost weightless. Accent rings made of wafer-thin, high-tech SPX^®+ plastic form the finishing touch, adding contour to the shapes. The result is a striking 3D look.

With the second winner, the “Purist”, Silhouette has come up with something very special. This eyewear boasts two designs in one: it creates a stunning effect when viewed from the side due to the fine, clean and dynamic line that runs from the front to the ends of the temples. And when viewed from above, the design changes to create a fascinating and exciting, playful effect as the concave and convex surfaces work together to form a harmonious whole.

With the virtual Try-On tool on silhouette.com, the extensive range of prescription eyewear and sunglasses can be experienced on screen, at any time and in the comfort of your own home. Additionally, the service offers customers the option of arranging an appointment online for a consultation at a local optician of their choice. Silhouette will deliver up to three pairs of eyewear placed in the Click & Collect basket to the chosen optician free of charge.
