A challenger for 60 Years
This year the Silhouette Group celebrates its 60th anniversary. We take this opportunity to reflect on who we were, who we are, and who we want to be as a company in the future.
60 years ago, the founders of our company challenged the status quo. Anneliese and Arnold Schmied had the vision that glasses could be much more than just devices for vision correction: they could be accessories for perfect sight and stylish appearance. In an era when glasses were about as exciting and emotionally charged as a filing folder, Anneliese and Arnold Schmied had the courage to think ahead and make people's needs a priority.
And so they decided in 1964 in Linz to create the world’s most beautiful eyewear, with a firm belief that only the highest quality is good enough.
60 years later, Silhouette is still the benchmark in premium eyewear. We want to maintain this success. We are constantly working to improve ourselves, using the latest technology and trying out new things. We keep working on the impossible until it becomes possible. With this mindset, we can achieve anything. For example, the next groundbreaking innovation.
To mark the company's 60th anniversary, Reinhard Mahr, CEO and CFO of the Silhouette Group, and Michael Schmied, CMO, not only look back on the company's impressive past, but also share their wishes and visions for the future.
We firmly believe that there are still many inventions waiting to see the light of day. We take great pleasure in constantly exploring how we can better meet our customers' needs. We are forever tinkering, refining, creating, experimenting, optimizing, and developing, and we do so with heart and passion until we are truly excited about the solution. Moving forward, our goal is to challenge the status quo together and deliver pioneering innovations that captivate and inspire. So that we remain what we are: the benchmark in premium eyewear.
